Can you imagine winning not just one, but two Emmy awards early on in your career? Well, for Communications graduate Norma Lopez (B.A. 2019), she did not just imagine it—she went ahead and did it.
No Hoy Nada Mas is a 30-second Spanish promotional spot on the SF Giants, in which Norma worked as associate producer. It won the Commercial-Single Spot or Campaign – Spanish category in the Northern California Emmy’s. This is already her second Emmy award.
School as Training Ground
Norma also talked about the gigs that she got involved with while in school, which became training ground for her and her career.
She also dished out good advice for anyone who would like to be in the same industry as her, which is Broadcasting and Production. According to her, the most important part of any production is the Pre-Production. Make sure everything’s laid out right and you can look forward to smooth shooting experience.
“Definitely take advantage of learning everything from teachers like Richard (Hart), Steve (Kotton), and Jan (Yanehiro). They are PROS and have been in the industry for a long time.”
If you’re looking for someone to look up to and aspire to be one day as an Academy graduate, Norma is definitely one of them.
