Design Options for New Bike Path on the Bay Bridge

In today’s San Francisco Examiner, a new bike and pedestrian path will be available on the eastern portion of the Bay Bridge in 2013. Although the western section that connects San Francisco to Yerba Buena Island will not have any. Designs for a bike path from the two destinations on the bridge will be shown today at a public hearing tonight. However, bridge officials say any bike path design will be difficult to execute, especially since there is no funding yet for this $300-550 million dollar project. Executive Director of the San Francisco Bike Coalition, Leah Shahum, said that the project is possible. Even through difficult financial times, she claims that there has been funding found for recently large infrastructure projects.
