IAD Student Success Stories
We are so proud to announce that IAD BFA student Marija Kalas won first-place in Sherwin-Williams STIR Student Design Challenge residential design category this year. Winners were selected from a pool of hundreds of entries stemming from the top design schools in the nation. Besides recognition, Kalas received $2,500 for the top prize. Kalas’ winning entry incorporated Sherwin-Williams 2015 Color of the Year Coral Reef in a variety of home spaces.
For some context, the Student Design Challenge asks students to design for an individual room or area in a home, or an entire home and/or commercial property such as a restaurant, hotel, museum, office or retail store. They could work as individuals or in teams and were required to use a minimum of three Sherwin-Williams colors in their designs. Entries were accepted at swstudentdesign.com from March 1 through April 15, 2015.
“Winning this competition will be an excellent addition to my portfolio to show clients how I can turn their ideas into a visual reality,” Kalas said. “But I think the biggest benefit of winning this competition is to be recognized and associated with such a reputable company.”
