Pavement to Parks SF
If you live in San Francisco you have probably noticed this new “trend” that’s going around the city, they call it Parklets, and the whole concept of it is to take over part of the actual street and turn it into a mini plaza or tiny parks that can be used as art exhibits, extra sitting or just to bring some life into the streets.
They are all over the city from SOMA to the Mission and Castro even Polk street has added one, but the newest addition of Parklets is the Powell street one, with torqued aluminum railing and very dry looking plants all sponsored by Audi.
The design was assigned to landscape architect Walter Hood, we don’t love the final design, because we think it doesn’t goes with that specific part of the city but you be the judge of it. (last two images)
