Dear AAU Community,
This Holiday Season, AAU is partnering with the San Francisco Firefighters Toy Program. The program, which is run by off-duty and retired firefighters and their families, has distributed more than 300,000 toys to over 40,000 children every year in every neighborhood in the City since 1949.  This year AAU has:
 

  • Created a new logo and poster, through the School of Graphic Design, which is featured throughout the city on collection barrels and in retail windows
  • Launched our own AAU community Toy Program Gift Giving Campaign, with collections barrels in over 50 locations on campus
  • Donated space at our 2225 Jerrold St facility for the extensive toy distribution process that began in the summer and continues through the end of the year
  • Provided photographs of key events by a MFA photo student and provided AAU volunteers to assist in toy distribution

 
This week our AAU Tennis and Golf teams volunteered in the massive toy storage area, stuffing bags with toys for families. There are many more opportunities for supporting the Toy Program and volunteering your time. The Firefighters Toy Program is the San Francisco’s largest, and the nation’s oldest program, of its kind. In addition to helping individual families in need, the Toy Program serves many community organizations, including shelters for abused women and children, inner-city schools, neighborhood groups, children’s cancer wards, and pediatric AIDS units.  The program also responds on a year-round basis to displaced children who become victims of fires, floods and other such disasters.
