The 2012 Design Challenges At A GlanceBoth of the 2012 design challenges provide an unique opportunity to, in popular parlance, turn clicks into bricks. Most companies expand an established brick-and-mortar retail presence to online retail. These challenges provide an opportunity to do the opposite. A successful online brand, Bonobos has only two physical stores to date, so this year’s design challenges will be a part of the brand’s initial development of a physical presence.
Visual Merchandising Challenge
The challenge is to create a window display and an entry merchandiser that successfully communicate the Bonobos brand. The window display and merchandising pieces will be used in a “pop-up” temporary shop. The space will be located in the hip, urban Meatpacking District of New York City.

Store Design Challenge
The challenge is to design a 1,250 sq. ft. pop-up environment. The environment will be a street-level raw “gallery-like” space, 25 feet wide x 50 feet deep, with a ceiling height of 14 feet. The space will be located in the hip, urban Meatpacking District of New York City.
