Vincent Came the Night Before Christmas
Before there was Jack Skellington, there was Vincent Malloy. During the early 80s, Tim Burton was an animator, storyboard artist, and concept artist for a few films at Disney. His personal flair clashed with the traditional Disney style and he hoped to work on some solo projects. In 1982, Tim Burton wrote and directed a short stop-motion film called, Vincent. Vincent Price (a personal idol of Burton) narrates the story of a young boy named Vincent Malloy, who wants to be Vincent Price and pretends to suffer as a tortured artist. The short makes references to Edgar Allan Poe and his poem, “The Raven.”
Can you see any inspirations Burton might have used for his later films like, The Nightmare Before Christmas and Frankenweenie?
