VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Instructor Julie Trachtenberg invites you to join in the expansion and improvement of the Grandpa Allen Learning Garden (GALG) in the heart of Richmond for the Richmond College Prep School. The project is planned to include installing a Native American herb garden, creating a dry creek bed, building a chicken coop and planting a WWII-type victory garden. This urban garden will “bring history, nature, and fresh produce to the families and community of Richmond,” says garden director and parent coordinator, Tana Monteiro. (From July 12, 2013 National Park Service News Release)
Numerous community groups have already been hard at work at the garden this summer, and it is very exciting to see the garden taking shape! This past weekend, volunteers completed the Learning Circle, pictured, and continued preparations for the Planting Beds. This coming weekend, 07/20 and 07/21, is devoted to receiving a larger delivery of Soil, Mulch, Planters and establishing the Planting Beds – A great opportunity for any designer to roll up their sleeves and help bring the project to life! Your support is greatly appreciated by the students of the Richmond College Prep School and the entire community of Richmond!
The weather in Richmond is slated to be beautiful this weekend – We hope you can make it out:
