Come See Us at San Diego Comic-Con 2017!
Calling all Dungeon Masters—and those living beyond the screen!
San Diego Comic-Con 2017 is right around the corner, with fandoms across the board joining together for a weekend packed with all that is pop culture. As new and seasoned event ticket holders begin to plan out their schedules, Academy of Art University invites attendees to visit booth #4445 for a chance to come face-to-face with industry greats Tony DiTerlizzi and Frank Miller for a poster signing and giveaway.
Famed author and illustrator, DiTerlizzi is best known for creating the book-turned-feature-film The Spiderwick Chronicles series with Holly Black and artwork for popular role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons. His illustrations have also appeared in the collectible card game Magic: The Gathering.
Miller, highly-acclaimed writer, novelist, and artist, has built a successful career creating comic book stories and graphic novels such as Sin City, 300, and The Dark Knight Returns.
“The definition of success for an artist, if we went around the room, would be different for everybody,” DiTerlizzi said during a recent appearance at the Academy. “You have to really dig down and start asking yourself what is the thing that is going to make me so happy that I can’t wait to go do that every single day for the rest of my life. It’s literally a marathon, not a sprint.”
Following their “Hero Worship” panel in Room 6DE, DiTerlizzi and Miller will be at the Academy’s booth signing posters at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, July 21. For the next day, DiTerlizzi will be hosting a live drawing demo at the Academy booth at 11:00 a.m.
DiTerlizzi is currently working with faculty and students from the School of Game Development on an interactive experience exhibit that will be shown at the Normal Rockwell Museum in Fall 2017.
Be sure to stop by booth #4445 to learn more about the Academy and meet with influential artists that are sure to inspire!
