4blog

GLS Principal Gary Strang joins discussion panel on The Landscape Architecture of Roberto Burle Marx / From Copacabana Promenade to Brasilia, Roberto Burle Marx (1909-1994) is the father of landscape architecture in Brazil. Combining lyrical artistry with great knowledge of native plants and profound humanitarian purpose, he breathed new life into the urban environment, completing some 1,700 projects that made him beloved at home and recognized abroad. Filmmaker Zara Muren visited him in the 1980s, and her documentary features interviews with him and illuminates the poetry and meaning that he brings to diverse settings, concluding at his own home, garden and nursery. Following the screening, Muren will be joined by landscape architects Bonnie Fisher, principal of ROMA Design Group, and Gary Strang, principal of GLS Landscape | Architecture.
