The Pantone Color Institute connects a sense of wellness and peace.

For the first time, the Pantone Color institute announces the blending of two colors, Rose Quartz and Serenity, as 2016 COLOR of the year. The idea is inspired by the gender blur issue in fashion, which has in turn impacted color trends throughout all other areas of design. It transcends cultural and gender norms.
Balance is a challenge in our modern lives. Reassurance and security in our lives are becoming more important and more fulfilling. The combination of Rose Quartz and Serenity represents an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue. It reflects the connection between wellness and soothing sense of peace and order.
Rose Quartz is a persuasive and gentle tone that delivers a sense of compassion and composure. Serenity provides a feeling of weightless and airy. Serenity also brings relaxing feeling as if blue sky above us gives a sense of respite from turbulent moment.
Interior and Architecture Design club (IAD club) presents 2016 color of the year in various types of interior places; residential, office, hospitality, retail store, and furniture. Assel Abilova accents window treatment and ottoman chair using Rose Quartz. Blue cushions under the blue sky harmonizes and provides a calm feeling. Serenity wall covering brings a sense of order, yet casual. By putting a large scale of Rose Quartz art piece in the middle of the office, Davis Liu provides a focal point of the space. Jessica Yunnaraga brightens the hotel lobby by using Rose Quartz ceiling covering. Serenity floor covering is used as a wayfinding element in the design. Kristin Choi simply highlights the retail products using color of the year in order to give a sense of sporty vibe. Chia Chi Chang shows how color of the year can also be used in different type of furniture pieces.
By combining color of the year with neutral colors, this is how IAD Club represented color of the year. In many parts of the design world, Rose Quartz and Serenity can also cover all areas of design, fashion, interiors and graphics. Therefore, next time you want to play with color, let’s give them a try!
