Sweet Love Songs
For those of you who do and do not know, today is Valentine’s Day. Some may see this as a day where you see people running to the nearest flower and candy shop to buy something for their love ones (so they don’t get in trouble) and others may see it as S.A.D. (Single Awareness Day). It may seem love is everywhere today, but love is always around us, especially when we hear it. A large number of songs written in this world are usually considered “love songs.” Whether they are happy or sad, we hear it on the radio, on our playlists, and even the people who rolled down their windows when driving as they sing out loud Taylor Swift’s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.”
When I was still in school, I was introduced to a singer who was becoming popular on YouTube called, Kina Grannis. The first music video of hers that I watched was her song “Valentine.” In her video, she shows off a cute animation of a young boy looking for love through an animated domino effect. It has the same concept of looking through a flip book, except it is done with many (and many) panels in a domino effect. Below is Kina Grannis’ music video, “Valentine.”
Another video that received many good reviews on YouTube was her music video, “In Your Arms.” This one is different than her “Valentine” video because it involved stop motion animation and jelly beans. Inspired by the concept of jelly bean art, the process to create the video took 2 years and 288,000 jelly beans. Watch Kina Grannis’ music video, “In Your Arms” and also ‘The Making of “In Your Arms.”‘
What do you think of their labor of love?
