February marks Black History Month, which recognizes the achievements and contributions of the African diaspora to our shared society. In honor of the many Black visionaries who have shaped the fields of arts and design, Academy of Art University would like to extend our most heartfelt thanks to our Black art school faculty, students, and alumni.

Continuing a tradition long observed in Black communities, Black faculty and students at Kent State University hosted the first official Black History Month in 1970. In the following years, classrooms, community centers, and governments have joined in to commemorate Black History Month worldwide.

So once again, thank you for your relentless passion and your dedication to your craft! And last but not least, thank you for your amazing contributions to our art school community and the creative culture of San Francisco.
