Fleet Week and Academy Join Forces
For the 7th consecutive year, Academy of Art University is pleased to announce their participation in San Francisco Fleet Week 2017. The event, held October 1 through 9, offers a variety of opportunities to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions of active duty service members, veterans, and their family members.
As a program partner for this annual event, the Academy will be hosting a number of activities, including a large interactive booth on Marina Green, the Veterans Art Exhibit at the Cannery Building, and music from the Navy Band Woodwind Quintet.
Academy of Art Interactive Career Booth
As part of the festivities, the Academy will host an interactive career booth on Marina Green. Visitors will have the opportunity to speak one-on-one with Academy representatives about the school and its 30+ areas of study. Faculty, staff, alumni, and service members who are also Academy students will participate as well.
Booth highlights include an interactive demo from the School of Game Development, a model of a drone from the School of Communications and Media Technologies, and student work from departments such as Fashion, Architecture, and Interior Architecture and Design.

Veterans Art Exhibit: The Cannery Galleries
In partnership with San Francisco Fleet Week, the Academy will feature veteran artwork at the Cannery Building in rooms 106, 110, and 112 of the Courtyard Galleries. The Cannery is located at 2801 Leavenworth St, San Francisco, CA.
The exhibition runs from October 3 to October 26, 2017, and showcases the work of artists and designers who have also made the choice to serve their country.
The galleries will be open to the public during normal business hours, 9:00am-6:00pm, Tuesday through Sunday.
In addition, the Academy welcomes the following military and veterans service organizations who will be participating in the exhibit: Wounded Warrior Project, American Art Therapy Association, The Tug McGraw Foundation fStop Warrior Project, and Creative Arts Center of the Veterans Home of California, Yountville, CA.
Navy Woodwind Quintet
As part of Fleet Week activities, the Academy has invited the Navy Woodwind Quintet to perform in the Cannery Courtyard during the following dates and times:
Wednesday, October 4- 10:00am-11:00am and 12:00pm-1:00pm
Saturday, October 7- 11:00am-12:00pm and 1:00pm-2:00pm
