#AcademyAlum Scott Borrero Declared First-Ever Winner of “Top Photographer with Nigel Barker”
Congratulations to Academy of Art University alumnus Scott Borrero for being named the very first winner of the new AdoramaTV series “Top Photographer with Nigel Barker”! Borrero, 29, took the top title among five finalists in the season finale that aired on November 20. The inaugural season of the show also featured Academy alumnus Jamiya Wilson joined by contestants Andrew Kearns, Jamiya Wilson, Chris Palermo, and Roxy Rodriguez.
In addition to earning the title as the first-ever winner of the competition, Borrero earned a gallery showing in Manhattan, New York and grand prize package valued at more than $50,000.
Borrero, a freelance photographer based in San Francisco, studied photography at Academy of Art University for two years. During this time, he secured a six-month internship for a fashion startup and worked his way up to the role as their head of photography until pursuing freelance photography in April 2014.
It feels incredible really, though I don’t think it’s fully set in yet,” Borrero said in an official press release. “I feel I owe some thanks and gratitude to the other contestants; without them I don’t think I could have done it. Roxy, Jamiya, Chris and Andrew all had some part in my success, by believing in me.”
“Top Photograph with Nigel Barker” is a web series competition featuring five hand-selected photographers competing in photo challenges to become the Top Photographer. Contestants underwent photography challenges assessed by judges Nigel Barker, Coco Rocha, Joe Zee, Jeremy and Tom Jauncey, David Bergman, and Emily Soto.
The full series is available now to watch on YouTube.
