Back to School Series: Orientation Week Reminders
Winter intersession is officially over, which means it’s time for you to gear up and get yourself over to art school for some seriously fun learning this Spring Semester! Academy of Art University can’t wait to welcome you all, but before that, here are some important dates and reminders that you should take note of before heading off to your classes.
Move-In Day:
January 29-February 1, 2019
This is happening RIGHT. NOW. Don’t worry, you have until Friday, February 1 to settle in. Make sure you’ve got everything you need when you move into your designated campus housing, so you can take a deep breath and just enjoy this weekend. You will, after all, be diving headfirst into academics soon enough. Very soon.
New Student Orientation
January 30, 2019, 1PM
Make your way to the Morgan Auditorium at 491 Post St. on Wednesday for the official New Student Orientation. Here, you’ll get a chance to meet key members of the faculty, as well as staff who will soon become familiar faces to you. This is also the perfect time for you to learn more about university and campus life.
This is required for ALL new onsite undergraduate and undergraduate students, so make sure to attend it.
Meet Your Director
There’s much to learn from your School Directors, which is why it’s crucial that you attend the Meet Your Director session. Also because this is a required activity for ALL new undergraduate and graduate students. Sit up and pay attention; you just might get a tip or two on how to get ahead of the curve.
Take note that there are different locations and time for each School. You can download the PDF here for the complete schedule.
Student ID Pickup
January 22-February 1, 2019, 9AM-5PM
Student IDs have actually been ready for pickup since January 22, but in case you haven’t gotten around to getting yours yet, don’t worry. You have until Friday, February 1, to get it at the Atelier (1st Floor Gallery) at 79 New Montgomery.
Needless to say, your ID is going to be a crucial part of your life in the Academy, so trust us when we say you should NOT start the semester without it. It’s your primary access to all the Academy buildings and facilities, and it’s there for your safety, security, and convenience.
It’s too early to lose your ID, really, but in case you do, immediately report it as Lost or Stolen. Doing so deactivates whatever privileges and funds may be associated with the ID. Campus Safety enumerates the steps to getting a replacement right here.
Download the Academy App
The Academy has buildings all over the city, but you don’t have to get lost or constantly be on the run to get to your next class on time. Just download the Academy app for the complete shuttle schedule, among many other helfpul features.
