Cappasity Helps Fashion School Make Shopping Go 3D

Online shopping takes on another dimension with Cappasity, a company that helps create 3D experiences on e-commerce websites. Sensing an opportunity to familiarize its students with the technology of the future, Academy of Art University’s Fashion Merchandising and Marketing departments have integrated Cappasity into their curriculum.

The Capacity for Change

Based in Santa Clara, California, Cappasity is a pioneer in fashion technology that specializes in 3D, VR & AR content for web and app. The software establishes a virtual shopping experience by allowing customers to view products from different angles and details. Their innovative technology claims to help with shopper engagement and product returns.

Reinventing the Shopping Experience

Here at our fashion school, students in the FSH 460: Merchandising Industry Collaboration class use Cappasity to create apparel for Shop657, the school-run marketplace. The retail brand is a curated collection of products made exclusively by fashion students and alumni.

The idea of Shop657 blossomed from a pop-up store and now continues to be a hands-on project for fashion students. Together with Cappasity, they are reinventing traditional shopping experiences into virtual ones fit for this day and age.

Keeping up With Technology

Academy of Art University is always looking to incorporate new emerging technology to better prepare students for the ever-evolving industries. Cappasity is one of many examples of product collaborations in the hands-on classes we offer in our curriculum.
