Academy Weekly: Officially Halfway Through 2019

Can you believe we’re halfway done with the year already? Here’s hoping that you’ve stuck with your resolutions last new year. We know we have (hint: to keep giving you all the good and fun stuff here on the blog)!

Check out the exciting new content we pushed out on the last week of June:

It’s an action-packed kick-off week Academy of Art University’s summer semester as two departments came out to represent the community at the SF Design Week. The Schools of Industrial Design and Interaction and UI/UX Design hosted and participated in the events.

Attending fun, educational events off-campus is great and all, but we’re also just as concerned—if not more—about keeping our community members safe. We’ve recapped the important contact number and details of the relevant offices you should get in touch with for campus safety and security in this Back to School Series refresher.

PCAE Summer Prep Day also happened, and we’re very happy to welcome these high school students taking the first step to becoming an actual Academy student.

Schools Overview

As we continue to provide basic information about the courses offered here at the Academy, we hope that potential students at our school, or even the ones already in the system but might be thinking about shifting degree paths, get a clearer picture at the options they can.

For this week’s overview, we focused on the following:

As for other noteworthy Academy updates, we also took a look at how the 2017 Tech in Tenderloin winner is doing. As it turns out, the winning app, TeenTend, is now officially live and available for download!

And of course, we closed out the month of June giving honor and tribute to the allies and advocates who contributed to the LGBTQ+ movement, leading up to the Pride Month now so openly celebrated throughout the world.

Up This Week

As we officially enter the second half of the year, we share with you more alumni success behind the scenes of blockbuster summer movies. We also look at what you can expect from an architecture degree, fine arts, industrial design, and animation, among others.

Oh, and we’re celebrating the Fourth of July, so we hope you made awesome plans for this free day so early into the sem!
