February is Fashion month. Celebrate the Academy’s talented fashion designers with a flashback to previous New York Fashion Week shows!
Every year Academy of Art University School of Fashion students take their talents from the classroom to the runway in the annual Graduation Fashion Show in San Francisco. An elite opportunity that will lead a select few to the gilded gates of New York Fashion Week.
With an invite as exclusive as any New York or Paris show, only the best of the best Academy designers are invited to show their amazing work on the runway. In order to grace the catwalk, they’ll have to impress guests of honor and industry professionals in the Spring portfolio review.
The review is an opportunity for graduates to get input on their designs from industry experts. They also talk all things fashion—getting insights about everything from the future of the industry to employment opportunities.
Due to the pandemic, Academy of Art University decided—along with many major fashion houses around the globe—to play it safe and forgo live events. However, as restrictions are lifted, more and more designers start to become comfortable at a global scale, increasing hopes that this may be the year we will finally return to the live shows on the catwalk. Stay tuned.
