Sexual Assault Awareness Poster Contest: For a Safe and Secure Campus Life

We go from one important monthly observance (International Women’s History Month) to another as we wrap up the month of March. It’s more than just Fools’ Day coming to us next.

April brings along with it a much more important issue than laughs and pranks: the elephant in the room, sexual assault.

As the voices from the #MeToo movement reaches a crescendo since its rise from over a couple of years ago, it’s crucial that communities like Academy of Art University work to maintain and improve the platform for discourse.

Beyond simply talking about it, however—uncomfortable and unappealing as the subject may be—this issue demands not only our attention but more importantly, action.

Title IX

The Academy itself is committed to ensuring a safe space for everyone in campus. Through the Title IX policy, the Academy:

“does not discriminate on the basis of sex in its education programs or activities and prohibits unlawful harassment including sexual harassment and sexual violence.”

– Title IX

To bring more awareness to this very important issue, the Academy’s Campus Life office is holding a poster-making contest.

Sexual Awareness Poster

Consider this your last call to join as the contest will run only until March 31, 2019, Sunday. You have until the very end of day—11:59PM to be exact—to send in your entry.

You’d want to do so too, because the winners will get $150, $100, and $50 Amazon Gift Cards. So, making art for a very relevant advocacy and then winning a prize for it? It doesn’t sound all too bad for the last weekend of the Spring Break, yeah?
