Academy Weekly: We Can Still Look Forward From Inside

Let’s call a spade a spade: March has been very weird. It threw us a major curveball that literally took us out of our comfort zones, but hey, we’ve got a brand new April to make the most out of and look forward to.

Even though we’re all cooped up inside doesn’t mean it’s a free pass for us. There are still plenty of things to do, school work and requirement to meet. For those about to transition from high school to college, we know it’s not the most ideal time to be out and about searching for schools.

Then again, Academy of Art University has already anticipated this need, which is why we regularly conduct Open House events online. Don’t worry if you missed the one held this past weekend; there’ll be plenty more in the coming weeks, guaranteed.

Meanwhile, we continue to honor our very own Female Leaders in Art & Design, this time with School of Fashion’s Costume Design instructor, Dana Jakobson.

And then we also introduced Sofia Ragona, Fashion Marketing student and Art U Tennis player extraordinaire as this month’s featured Urban Knight. Get to know her and why she chose the Academy for her sport and education.

Inspirations From the Best

While you’re at it, getting to know inspiring women from the Academy, why don’t you go ahead explore other sources of creative inspirations? There’s definitely a lot out there, such as these Seven Famous Female Playwrights and Screenwriters.

For something on the industry, take a look at some the Best Game Titles and Console Launches in recent video game history.

And while you’re staying in, why don’t you also check out these Seven Beautiful Design Trends Coffee Table Books, perfect for drawing inspiration from.

Up This Week

As we close out the very far from normal month we’ve had with March, we venture into April hoping for the best in avoiding the worst. And still we look forward. We’ve got new entries lined up for The Art Bundle in entertainment arts, design, and game development, and a brand new podcast episode.

We’re also geared up to celebrate Earth Day, and what better way than with a contest! Keep your eyes peeled for that one; fun prizes await the winners!

We also have some more profiles on inspirational artists known for using their art for their politics, tips on having a more sustainable home, and glimpse into some prime choices for art history books.

Sit tight and hang in there! We’ll try our best to cruise through this month together.

Academy of Art University’s San Francisco campus is boarded up for the rest of the semester, but make no mistake, the semester is not cancelled. All classes have transitioned online, smoothly at that, thanks to our tried and tested online education program.

You can still go ahead and apply now for the next semesters, despite the less than normal circumstances. Get in touch with our admissions representatives to request information on our various art and design programs offered, available housing options, and details on financial aid.
